Google Search Console Rolls Out 'Platform Properties' to Track Social Media Search Traffic
Google has announced the global availability of Platform Properties inside Google Search Console (GSC). This feature allows creators and digital marketers to track how their public social media profiles on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), and YouTube perform directly within Google Search results.
This is a game-changer for omni-channel brands in Indore looking to measure social-SEO value.
What are Platform Properties?
Previously, GSC only tracked traffic driven to domains that you owned and verified (e.g. `thedigitalads.in`). With Platform Properties:
* Track Social Listings: You can now link your official social media pages in GSC.
* Analyze Search Impressions: See which search queries show your YouTube videos, Instagram posts, or TikTok profile in Google's main search results.
* Consolidated Data: Understand your complete brand footprint on Google search pages beyond your core website.
How to Set It Up in GSC
1. Navigate to the property dropdown in Google Search Console and select *"Add Property"*.
2. Choose the new *"Platform Property"* option.
3. Paste the URL of your verified social media profile (e.g., your YouTube channel or Instagram brand page).
4. Verify ownership via connected authentication (like linking your Google Account associated with the channel).
